Nagpur: Even because only important shops and services are allowed to operate on weekends, the majority of shops that are not important also remain open on Saturdays.
Toi visited various markets throughout the city on Saturday and found that no city police officers and Nuisance (NDS) Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) squad ensure all unnecessary stores remained closed on weekends.

According to the NDS Commandant Virsen Tamke, the squad has sealed 50 stores within the last five months for violating the safety guidelines set to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Most stores are sealed because they do not ensure physical distances among customers, entertaining customers do not wear masks and do not provide sanitaryers.
NDS data revealed that the highest number of violations was reported from the Gandhibagh zone where 20 stores were sealed and the fine RS1.80 lakh was collected.
Under the Mangalwari zone, eight shops were sealed, four under the Dharampeth zone and three were under the Zone of Hanuman Nagar and Satranjipura.
Under the Zone of Nehru Nagar and Lakadganj, the NDS team each sealed one shop.
The source said all the dining connections, especially the Saoji restaurants in Bajaj Nagar roughly violated Covid-19 guidelines by allowing dinner until late at night.
