NMC House to decide the fate of 44 nit gardens

Nagpur: Regardless of the Intervention of the Nitin Gadkari Minister to resolve the difference between improvement in Nagpur (NIT) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on the maintenance of 44 gardens developed by the first, this problem remains unresolved.
NMC bound by cash does not want additional financial burden to maintain the garden and submit a proposal to the general body meeting to be held online on September 8 to discuss the issue.
In June 2020, NMC had taken over 44 gardens developed by Nit.
The garden delivery was carried out without the knowledge and approval of the NMC General Agency.
On March 18 this year, the NMC General Agency has directed the citizenship government to restore the garden to Nit.
However, on March 23, the NIT chairman refused to take back the garden and quote the rules to put responsibility for NMC to maintain and preserve the park.
Because of the difference in NMC-nit, the maintenance of all 44 parks has been beaten badly.
Residents have begun to complain about their poor maintenance, the proposal for the Garden NMC department states.
Now getting to the general body to make a decision in this matter, senior officials from the department.
Recently, Gadkari suggested that the body of the Civic must maintain all gardens, while Nit must take care of all the playgrounds.
Toi has reported that Gadkari directs NMC not to request funds for the operation and maintenance of the city’s garden.
Meanwhile, with the intention of compensating the non-operation of the Aapli bus during the coronavirus-induced locking period, the NMC transportation department has decided to extend the three-month-red bus operator contract.
The department has submitted a proposal for this effect before the general body.
In accordance with the agreement, NMC should provide guaranteed payments for 200km per bus per bus.
However, during covid-induced locking, NMC has suspended city bus operations for almost seven months from March 23, 2020.
It only operates 60 buses (each from the red bus operator) to transport the city center to quarantine.
The guaranteed payment to the three bus operators is around RS14 Crore.
“Instead of giving money, we have decided to extend the contract period,” said senior official from the Department of Transportation.
“If it is issued by a public body, the operator contract period will increase by 219 days (around seven months).
So they will run city bus operations for more than 10 years,” said the senior official.
