Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed to build two overhead tanks in Prabhags 3 (D) and 27 (a) in designated places for playgrounds.
MPR and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari have provided RS1.50 Crore for the development of the playground and this resident also opposes the move.
This problem arose for discussion on Friday at a meeting organized by Gadkari considering the delay in building 16 tanks of overhead water throughout the city.
According to BJP Corporator Naseem Bano from Prabhag number 3 (d) in North Nagpur, who has opposed the construction of the tank in the playground, Gadkari has allocated 80 lakh rs for the development of a playground.
“Overhead tank construction will damage the only playground available for 30 different areas in North Nagpur,” he said.
Similar was the opinion of Tansaji Wanve who also faced opposition from Darshan Colony in South Nagpur in Nagpur.
Here also Gadkari has provided RS50 Lakh for the development of a playground.

“Allowing overhead tank construction will destroy the playground is the opinion of the population,” Wantve told Gadkari.
After a discussion of almost two hours, it was decided that an overhead tank would be built in the corner of the playground in two Prabhags in two Prabhags.

NMC has received RS 272.02 Crore from the central government under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation Schemes and Urban Transformation (Amruption) to strengthen the water supply system in the city.
The Civic body has entrusted Wapcos Limited, a central government institution, by building 16 overhead water tanks throughout the city.
But WapCos will be slow with work, which has made the corporators seeking Gadkari intervention.
New from building 16 overhead tanks, NMC has a plan to put the main pipe of 370 km with a 22 km feeder line.
Residents of the three regions, where the overhead tank has been proposed, has opposed their construction in the playground.
Opposition restrictions in these three places, working on 13 other sites have not started.
Gadkari directed Wapcos officials to accelerate work in the city and asked them to complete the entire project at the end of this year.
