Nagpur: With a motive for making the entire environmentally friendly city bus service, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has planned to convert 200 standard-sized buses and all 195 midi and mini diesel-run to CNG.
And this time the body is Civic, and not a city bus operator, will pay conversion fees.
Commissioner of the city of Radhakrishnan B told TOI that of the 237 standard-sized buses, 54 had been converted to CNG where the operator paid conversion fees around RS4 Lakh.
“NMC pays service fees according to the diesel level, and not CNG, to the operator.
So, they can recover conversion costs,” he said.
The Civil Head further said that the plan was to convert 146 more standard sizes to CNG for a total of 200.
“The plan is also ready to convert 150 mini buses to CNG.
Operators have taken bank loans so there are hypothesizations on the bus.
Operators have been asked to get The approval needed from the bank for conversion, “he said.
The remaining 37 standard sized buses will not be converted to CNG because it is not suitable for it and operated as a backup bus.
Radhakrishnan also said that the NMC would pay the conversion fee around RS4 Lakh.
“Ransmatt Industries Private Limited is to change the bus to CNG and restore installment costs from the operator.
NMC will pay to Ransmatt Industries and then pay service fees at the CNG level, and not diesel, to the operator.
Thus, the NMC will restore expenses and save more , “he said.
NMC operates six MIDI buses managed by electricity.
Under the central government scheme, everything is ready to get 40 more buses like that.
With all these buses on Aapli bus services will be environmentally friendly.
In 2015, MP City and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had announced to make the entire city bus service environmentally friendly.
With his initiative, NMC has also introduced the ethanol run bus but they were stopped later.
One city bus operator said that the NMC decision was true that would benefit all.
“The problem is that NMC only allows 200 of a total of 438 buses to quote a pandemic.
This causes a big loss to the operator and NMC and people.
NMC must run all buses,” he said.
Make all eco-friendly buses also tend to reduce financial losses for city bus services to some extent.
At present, the service creates expenditure around RS13 Crore per month while its income is Rs 6 Crore per month – the loss of RS7 Crore per month.
