Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will not be entitled to seven star rating in Swachh Bharat Survey, the results will be announced soon.
The assessor designated by the Urban Union Ministry has refused NMC requests for reassessing in water + rankings.
In mid-August, the Ministry has stated the results of plus water and ODF ++.
NMC maintains the ODF ++ certificate for the second year in a row, but fails to get a prestigious water + certificate to treat and reuse waste water.
Appraisers have sent six explanations about why NMC failed in water + assessment.
It finds solid waste accumulating in storm waterways.
Also, stormwater drains found choking at the on-ground assessment.
Even the bar screen (or garbage arrest) is not placed in a strategic location.
The next report states that the NULLAH and the open drain can be seen and the exit point mixed into the water body.
Open disposal and discharged faecal mud disposal and Blackwater also found in the city.
The main opinion of the NMC to find a revaluation of a water + certificate is treating around 320 MLD, which is more than 50% of the waste water produced by the city, generating income through the sale of water treated to the nearest thermal power plant.
However, the assessment claimed that the documents submitted by NMC were not enough during the urban desktop assessment.
“There are no documents that are appropriate for the operating costs of 100% and maintenance of sewer networks, sewerage processing plants are being recovered through a special income stream or user fees,” which are clarified by assessors.
It also shows that NMC does not send verified documents, signed and authorized by a rented accountant.
With this development, it has become clear that NMC has been disqualified for rank seven stars and only has the right to rank five-star with ODF ++ rating.
In 2020, NMC ranks 18 throughout India and did not get a star rating despite having ODF plus certificates because of a bad sweep in many areas, including the Prabhag of the former Mayor of Nanda Jichkar.
