NMC Ropes in sculptor to identify the Idol pop seller

Nagpur: For the first time in the city, the Civic body has roamed the idolmaker to the NAV plaster from the seller of Paris (POP) idol.
Regardless of the prohibition of sales of pop idols, it continues to be sold openly in the city under the Garb of Clay Pure Idols.
Since the last few years, TOI has conducted a survey in the field with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials and members of NGO Green Vigil Foundation.
Every year, it is found that the seller will captivate customers to buy idol pop by presenting it as made by ‘Shadu Mitti’.
Do not have a mechanism to identify the difference between pop and pure clay idols has always been the main cause of worries of environmental lovers.
To overcome this obstacle, the Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari has established a 20 committee of idol makers who accompanied NMC officials in attacks, helping them identify pop and pure clay idols.
“The idol makers have distributed different zones.
On Wednesday, the team won nearly 200 pop idols and confiscated a fine of Rs 2 Lakh,” he said.
The mayor further informs that the body of Civic has first sought assistance from the Maharashtra pollution control body (MPCB).
“Because NMC does not have expertise in identification, we approach the Board quoted that it is a short staff and responsibility only to make rules.
Because it does not get support from them, we come with his first initiative to involve idol makers who have the best expertise, “Tiwari added.
As reported by TOI, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court allows makers to sell their products only as pop objects and not as idols.
“The seller needs to notify the buyer that idols are not intended for all types of worship, also not intended to sink in a natural or artificial water body,” the court observed.
The Nodal Officer from the NMC Sanitation Department Dr.
Gajendra Mahalle informs that the NMC has taken action since September 6 “the action will continue until September 11,” he said.
But in accordance with experts, a large number of pop idols have been sold.
“To ensure that the ban was implemented, the NMC had to start taking at least a month before.
During the attack, we found many makers who sold idols last year, 80% of them pop,” said Kaustav Chatterjee, founder of the LSGO Green Vigil Foundation.
