NMC said it did not recognize medical courses only in online mode

Puducherry: The National Medical Commission (NMC) said it did not recognize or approve medical courses that were only carried out in online mode.
Secretary of NMC Sandhya Bhullar in circular on February 8 suggested students to refer to regulations on the examination of foreign medical graduates (FMGE) before submitting or planning to seek acceptance in foreign institutions including in China.
FMGE is a license examination carried out by the National Examination Board.
This test is one of the mandatory requirements for Indian citizens who have medical degrees from universities outside India to practice medicine in the country.

Circular was released after several universities in the Chinese People’s Republic began issuing notifications to enter the MBBS program for the current and upcoming academic years.
China has imposed a strict travel limit after Covid-19 and suspended all visas since November 2020.
A large number of international students including Indian students have not been able to return to China to continue this study because of this restriction.
There is no relaxation in restrictions so far.
The Chinese authorities have said before that courses will be carried out online.
“According to the still existing rules, the NMC does not recognize or approve medical courses only with online mode.
Also, students are advised to refer to the FMGE regulations before registering or planning to search in any institution in China / students.
