Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has closed the Covid-19 vaccination center operating in the grass barn owned by and named by former Corporator and BJP leader Ramesh Chopde.
Show notifications have been issued for NMC staff to recover RS10 from beneficiaries to print a vaccination certificate.
Toi has been on November 18, the Civic body has opened and operates a vaccination center in the warehouse on the new Chopde page in Awasthi Square in West Nagpur, breaking the Covid-19 vaccination drive guide.
Taking a serious awareness of the Toi report, Commissioner of Radhakrishnan B and Supplementary City Commissioner Ram Joshi directed officials to visit the center and did what was needed.
The NMC Chief Medical Officer Dr.
Sanjay Chilkar visited the center and directed the NMC Mangalwari zone official to close the center.
“We have closed the center.
Staff working in the centers are now involved in door-door surveys and vaccinations.
Mangalwari zone plans to restart the center in the same area in the next few days,” he said.
Dr.
Chilkar admitted that the center did not operate according to government guidelines.
This center is operated from the tin-warehouse room, which is an emergency facility to store materials used for decoration and hosting functions on the page.
According to government guidelines, waiting for the hall, the registration arena, another space for vaccination and third for the observation of beneficiaries for 30 minutes mandatory at each center.
NMC has not displayed a banner or board that highlights it as the center.
But Chopde has displayed banners, which is also a violation of the model behavior model for MLC selection.
Banners highlight the center along with BJP party symbols, chopde images and other leaders.
The Vimala R collector said, “The team visited the page.
The banner was found deleted.” Toi also reported RS10 charged to beneficiaries at the printing center of the certificate.
Dr.
Chilkar said it was also a violation.
“Show notifications causes have been issued for staff working in the middle.” Chopde also sends messages in social media groups every morning, say Covishield is available for free on the new Chopde page from 11am.
Although the center is run by a Civic body, the messages do not mention NMC or the government that provides free vaccine facilities.
