Nagpur: Department of Project Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has come under the scanner for the manufacture of RS2 Crore Bridge jobs without inviting tenders.
This happened during a fixed committee meeting on Friday, when the project department proposal to increase funds for widening the bridge on Jalan DP Maharajbagh above the NAG tributary appeared for discussion.
Even though the department has provided work to M / S ABRAR Ahmed, it has now sent a proposal to issue work orders.
Since its inception, the work of 800metre road widening from Maharajbagh Square to the University of Square Road library has been on the news for all the wrong reasons.
Work orders, issued on September 9, 2015, are still incomplete.
It is estimated that the cost of stretching is RS4.74 Crore and now has increased almost four times.
Even so, the standing panel was led by Prakash Bhoyar allowed the proposal and made the financial provisions of RS2.77 Crore for the settlement of the bridge.
The committee also carries a civil head proposal not to collect a 5% annual increase in water rates.
This was the first time in the last 11 years that the Civic’s body had dropped the decision to climb water rates since Orange City Water Private Limited took over the water supply in 2010-11.
The move was taken considering the financial crisis faced by residents due to covid-induced locking.
Other approved proposals include the Department of Public Health Engineering to spend RS40 Lakh to employ private operators to maintain pumps in public wells, recruit companies for traffic signal maintenance and blinkers for RS1 Crore per year, Shortlist companies to strengthen the Sewerge Zone in Satranjipura and Ashi Nagar , and RS91.99 Lakh for city road repairs.
