Nagpur: Although Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has started Covaxin centers in several health care facilities again in the city, citizens cannot order an online appointment in one of them for several days.
When Tii showed a missing online slot, the Civic Health Department on Monday night updated the session on the Cowin system.
However, even now, only five centers offered appointments online for Covaxin shots.
In accordance with the NMC press release incurred in the afternoon, the first dose and both Covaxin will be available for groups of 18-45 years in GMCH, Ambedkar Hospital in Indora, AIIMS Nagpur, IMambada isolation hospital, Indira Gandhi Hospital in Gandhi Nagar, NMC Pachpaoli , NMC Pachpaoli, NMC Maternity House, Pragat Hall in Diphori, and expensive diagnotics center with the absence of online sessions, residents prefer the cost of custom vaccines forced to walk in their centers and wait in the queue for their turn.
Previously, the NMC had started the Covaxin center in a certain location with GMCH to be the only center for the early months.
Then, vaccines are offered in eight more centers.
NMC officials say online slots are mostly empty while beneficiaries generally prefer walk-in.
“Even if we make online slots available, very few of their books.
Therefore, not much attention is paid to open an online slot for Covaxin,” they said.
GMCH officials said because there was no scarcity of Covaxin shots, there was no problem for registration running.
Officials recognize that when Covaxin has a shorter gap between two doses, the possibility of more beneficiaries arises rather than available stocks cannot be ruled out.
“If the supply is not on demand, these centers can also stop,” they said.
NMC has more than 150 covishield centers where vaccination drives are repeatedly stopped due to lack of dosage.
Civic’s body has been able to continue the Covaxin drive without major errors.
Last month, TOI has reported how NMC limits online sessions to just one two-hour slot from 11am to 13:00, which also did not find many takers for covishield.
Compared to this, the private vaccination center has several online sessions 100 to 200 doses from 9am to 9:00 for all brand vaccines.
Covaxin is the most expensive among the three brands offered personally.
Meanwhile, the district receives a dose of covishield and covaxin on Monday and they will be available for all beneficiaries that meet the requirements on Tuesday.
