Nagpur: Maybe the first-of-type-type in the state, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has started the door vaccination-to-door from the residents of the slum, many of which have doubts towards inoculation.
The Civic’s body has also set an ambitious target to vaccinate all citizens who meet the requirements at the end of December.
Commissioner of Radhakrishnan B City has directed the NMC health department official to come up with ideas of building confidence to investigate people who have vaccine doubts and reach them are willing but cannot come to the center.
NMC Commissioner of the Additional City of Ram Joshi told TII, “Drive Vaccination specifically lasts for the last 2 days in six slums – Vijay Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Gondpura in Banhandewadi, Rambagh, Siddheshwar Nagar and Kaikade Nagar.
This will be extended to the area left with Less vaccination.
We have identified such areas through ‘vaccination drive in your location’.
We have also involved two NGOs to identify areas where lack of vaccination has occurred.
The target is to cover all these areas and ensure everyone is vaccinated as soon as possible.
“As planned, designed by Joshi, Chief Medical Officer Dr.
Sanjay Chilkar, Assistant Commissioner of Prakash Warhade and Zonal Medical Officer Dr.
Bhavana Sonkusre from the Dharampeth Zone, one team each has been established for four urban primary health centers (UPHC).
Each team consists of a doctor, nurse, Asha worker and NGO representative.
The teams have started a door-to-door visit to know those who have not been vaccinated.
They check all parameters such as temperature, blood pressure etc.
and ask people who are not vaccinated to gather in one place on track.
However vaccinated, the team moved to another lane.
This for the first time the Civic body has begun to investigate people by visiting households.
Previously, after being permitted by the state government, NMC had been inoculated by around 400 people in bed after receiving approval from a doctor who took care of them in the past month.
In accordance with the data of the state health department, the city population estimate is 29 lakh.
According to the number of governments, 75% of the total population – 21.75 lakh – is above 18 years and qualifies for vaccination.
Based on the 2011 census, NMC estimates that 60% of total population – 17.4 lakh – qualified for vaccination.
In accordance with NMC data, 12.17,763 people have taken the first dose between January 16 and September 1.
This reaches 42% of the total population, 56% according to the feasibility of working by the government and 70% of what is estimated to be NMC.
The vaccine request has improved manifold since the resumption of drives to group 18-44 on June 23.
More than 30,000 people have taken JAB in a day, despite irregular supply from the government.
The number of beneficiaries began to fall since the beginning of August.
Vaccination decreases to around 13,000 per day.
Also, the city has 184 vaccination centers – 160 facilitated by NMC and 24 private hospitals.
At an average of 300 beneficiaries per center, around 55,200 people can take jabs in a day in the city.
The wise performance of the district is satisfying because Nagpur stands fourth among 35 districts in the state after Mumbai, Pune and Thane.
Nashik district, which has more populations than Nagpur, is still lagging behind.
