NMC starts the process to auction of the 600 properties of tax defaulers

Nagpur: With the recovery of only RS115 Crore in eight months because it opposes RS625 Crore’s request and only four months left for fiscal to end, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has begun the process of auctioning the properties of tax defaulters.
The plan is to auction of the property of around 600 absent 600 in phase-i.
Deputy NMC Commissioner Milind Meshram told Ti that auction a public notification of 12 properties because more arrears from RS5 Lakh had been issued on November 21.
“The date for this property auction will be announced after being completed 21 days since the notification,” he said.
In accordance with the data available from the Civic body, 643 taxpayers owe more than RS5 Lakh.
They were issued guaranteeing on November 3, 44 of them paid RS4.6 Crore arrears.
The attachment process has been completed in 35 cases and occurred on the rest.
NMC has published a request record of RS625 Crore – RS250 Crore Current Fiscal and RS375 Crore arrears.
Until now RS115 Crore has been restored in the current fiscal.
The committee has also set the RS332 crore target for this fiscal.
Although the City Commissioner Radhakrishnan B and Meshram allowed a discount of 10% from April 1 to June 30 and 5% rebates from 1 July to 31, the recovery was low but more compared to the collection during the same period.
The rebate system is implemented to encourage early payments, provide obstacles to ask for payers and provide assistance to people who face financial setbacks in Pandemi Covid-19.

“We have prepared a list of defamms in various categories.
The first category is more arrears than RS5 Lakh, followed by RS1-5 Lakh, RS50,000-RS1 Lakh, RS25,000-RS 50,000, RS5,000-RS25,000 and below RS5,000.

NMC has completed the auction process of 495 properties like now.
The sales certificate followed by submitting property ownership to a successful bidder has been carried out in 13 cases – 12 is an open plot and one duplex located in Sonegaon.
Civic’s body cannot find the bidder for 138 properties.
This property has been registered in the NMC name.
