Nagpur: In the midst of the failure of the Department of Water to complete the 24×7 supply project, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will hire 265 tankers for the next two years.
This tanker, which will be paid RS360 per trip, will be deployed to supply drinking water in the non-city network area.
At present, the NMC supplies water up to 194 tankers “but now because of competition among the provider of tankers, the tariff has dropped to RS360 even after the increase in diesel prices,” show it.
NMC will pay RS360 per tanker for one year and RS386 per trip for the second year, said Bhoyar.
The standing panel also gives a green signal to entrust RS31.54 Crore for reinforcement work, improvement and beauty of Gandhisagar to private companies.
Other proposals include extensions to IT craft companies for two years, an extension of two months for 40 drivers is also cleaned.
However, the panel refused the request of the Chair of the Consultant and Project Committee to provide four-wheeled vehicles for official work in the city.
