NMC to share more samples with neeri labs for genome sequencing

Nagpur: Following the arrangement of the first genome sequencer of Vidarbha in CSIR-Neer, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to share more covid-19 samples with research institutions.
Environmental virological cells from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEEI) have found an Omicron variant in a 51 covid sample.
The cell has made a genome sequencing in 53 samples received from the RPTS Swab Collection Center.
The head of the Civic Radhakrishnan B told TII that NEEI facilities would provide additional NMC analysis.
“The daily case touches almost 1,000-marks.
In this situation, the genome sequencing of all samples is not possible.
However, a study of select samples will continue to examine the possibility of a new variant and how Omicron behaves,” he said.
He added that samples from different laboratories would be sent to the neeri for this study.
NMC also sent specific samples to the National Virology Institute ((NIV), Pune, to track the evolution of the SARS-COV-2 lineage.
The city commissioner ruled out a separate policy for Omicron patients in line with the norms of state governments.
Most patients whose samples were studied by Neer is in medicine because they are tested positively between January 1 and 6.
The NMC health department no longer traces Omicron patients.
Asimptomatics is permitted to remain in house isolation, while only symptomatic for severe patients received now.
Krishna Khairnar, Head of Environmental Virology cells, welcomed NMC Step.
“CSIR-neeri is always committed to serving the community with its best abilities.
We need to continue sort the sample to find a variant that arises and monitors the variant that appears in circulation,” he said.
Khairnar added that sequencing also helped in understanding the dominance of variants.
“Study this gives us insight into whether the case S variant is increasing or decreasing.
For example, samples are sorted until December shows delta as a dominant variant.
In January, it was almost replaced by Omicron, which will be confirmed with further sequencing, “he said.
The district is now in a better position than before to find a variant that appears.” Delta reportedly emerged from this region.
Then, it was known as a double mutation before the World Health Organization (WHO) gave a nomenclative delta.
Samples will be sorted exclusively in neeri.
The completion time will be much faster and thus proved useful, “he said.
From August and so on, Neer Lab, in collaboration with the center of cellular and molecular biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, has sorted all the positive samples of the city.” That might be because of its low progress.
.
Now, the level of progress has soared, therefore representative samples will be sorted, “Khairnar said.
The district reported less than 15 cases from July to December at the end of last year, which made it possible to learn all samples.
