NMC to spend more to build 11 ESRs

Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) which lacks money will spend more RS57 Crore to build 11 high storage reservoirs (ESRS) due to the delay in the project approved in January 2020.
The permanent committee led by the Chairperson of Prakash Bhoyar also gave a nod to the proposed works Department of Community Health Engineering NMC (PHED).
Speaking to Mediadpersons, Bhoyar acknowledged that the work order to build 11 ESR was issued for the Wapcos Central Government Agency in January 2020.
The project costs later more than RS19 Crore.
However, when the department failed to surrender the land needed to build ESRS in the past year, the WAPCOS refused to build it.
Then, the department must invite fresh tenders and will now spend RS57 Crore for the same thing.
Bhoyar acknowledged that there was no action that began with officials from the department for delays that lead to escalation of costs.
The standing panel gave a nod because it was too late to build ESR which would further strengthen the water supply in the city.
The stand panel also approved the Phed proposal to provide a three-month extension to M / S Shree Sai Bio Organic on the basis of experiments to produce compost from wet waste.
Against the manufacture of waste around 1,000-1,200 metric tons (MT), NMC only treat 150 to 200MT to prepare compost.
From April to 30 June this year, the NMC has obtained Rs 1.59 lakh through compost sales produced at Yard Dumping Bandewadi.
In accordance with the agreement, the company pays RS100 per MT to NMC from compost sales.
Bhoyar said soon the NMC will float the tender to treat 600mt waste per day.
The panel also extended the term of office of 80 civil police for 11 months.
NMC will spend RS2.27 Crore towards their remuneration.
