Nagpur: Jitendra Kukde, Chair of the Civic Body Transportation Committee, advanced to the NMC headquarters in his official CNG car on Tuesday.
Of the total 128 gasoline and diesel cars, this is the first official vehicle of the citizenship government to be converted to CNG, confirming an official from the NMC workshop department.
This step came almost 28 months after the NMC launched the first AAPTIS bus converted to CNG from Diesel in March 2019.
“Compared to gasoline which costs RS107.38 per liter, CNG costs RS83 per kg.
In one liter of gasoline, the car is used to run flat -Rata 10 km.
With conversion to CNG, the vehicle will run an average of 25 km per kg.
RTO also certified CNG conversion, “Kukde said.
CNG fuel capacity from the tank installed in the official Kukde car is 14kg.
“If fully filled, the car will easily run almost 350 km,” he said.
The cost of the kit is installed to convert gasoline to CNG around RS48,500.
Now, the car has a double fuel system – gasoline and CNG.
“This step will not only save taxpayer money but also improve four-year-old wheel life,” said Kustubh Gupta, CEO of Rawmatt Industries Private Ltd, which installed a CNG kit in Kukde car.
The company has been entrusted to change the Diesel-Run standard AAPLI bus to CNG.
Kukde said at this time, the NMC Plying 83 bus converted CNG and at the end of December, the remaining 117 standard buses will also start running on environmentally friendly fuel.
Data obtained from the Civic body workshop department revealed that NMC expenditure on fuel has increased by almost 25%.
Previously, used to spend RS50 lakh per month to trigger a fleet of 128 four-wheeled vehicles consisting of 24 gasoline and 104 diesel vehicles.
With the increase in fuel prices, the monthly spending of the Civic body also increased to RS72 Lakh.
Gupta says CNG kit can only be installed at 50 four wheels.
So, NMC can only install kits in 24 cars.
If it moves forward, it can still save a lot of money that can be used for city development.
RAWMATT Industries Private Ltd will also submit a CNG-fueled tractor to NMC on Wednesday.
This tractor, which is contributed by the Minister of Transportation Union Nitin Gadkari, will be specifically used to transport wastewater treated from Shankar Nagar Mini STP.
