‘No case against cops who Uttered Rs 5 lakh’

CHENNAI: The State Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of news reports concerning two police constables connected to Flower Bazaar police station banning Rs 5 lakh in the jewelry shop at Parry’s.
The commission sought a report by the Chennai city police commissioner regarding why an instance of theft hadn’t been filed against the erring cops.
The commission wondered why no more appropriate action was initiated against the inspector of Flower Bazaar police station for registering a criminal case rather than arresting the erring staff.
Based on news reports dated June 11, the constables were put under suspension for sneaking Rs 5 lakh in a jewelry shop which stayed open during the night in breach of their lockdown standards.
Constables Sujin and Mujeeb Rahman were on patrol on June 9 if they discovered that the camera of a jewelry store about the NSC Bose Road half available.
They drifted inside to locate employees counting money.
Since the jeweller had broken standards, the constables required the team and the proprietor see the Flower Bazaar channel together with all the money.
The proprietor talked to some sub-inspector in the police station.
The SI persuaded that the constables to go back to the channel, the reports said.
Afterwards, the team discovered Rs 5 lakh missing in the store.
They analyzed CCTV camera footage that shown the policemen banning the money bundles after deflecting the focus of their team.
Observing this, the jeweller approached a senior officer, who ordered a query.
The report has been submitted to commissioner Shankar Jiwal who purchased that the suspension of their errant policemen that would also function as a warning to other people, according to the report.
Departmental activity was initiated against the other sub-inspector for colluding with all the constables who stole the money, it included.
The SHRC has requested that the town police commissioner to submit a comprehensive report in just four months.
