No Celebration hoardings at Home Centers: BMC

MUMBAI: The BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal on Thursday issued orders putting a ban on political party hoardings at vaccination centres in Mumbai.
There are a total of 344 vaccination centres in the city of which 245 centres are of BMC, 20 of state or central government.
The local ward offices have been directed to pull down the hoardings in case of the same not being removed by the political party person.
Chahal has said in the orders which has been marked to all ward officers that they have received several complaints about hoardings of politicians at vaccination centres.
The order also said that while many public representatives like corporators and MLA’s are showing interest in the ongoing vaccination drive which has increased citizens participation as well but at several centres, banners, posters and hoardings of political parties are being seen.
Therefore all ward officers have been asked to write to the elected representatives requesting them to remove the same.
Apart from it the ward has also been asked to personally communicate the same to the elected representatives.
If despite these measures, hoardings or posters are not removed, we should take action from the BMC’s end.
The ward officers should also submit a report regarding the same.
The BMC had decided to start one vaccination centre in every corporator ward office in a bid to reduce crowds at vaccination centres.
Most of these centres are seen administering 100-200 vaccination doses daily which is done by staff including doctors, teachers which are provided by the civic body.
