NEW DELHI: The Public Works Department (PWD) on Tuesday said area staff of street maintenance and electric units will not be permitted to get leaves throughout the oncoming monsoon year as trainings were to keep the town free of waterlogging.
According to an office arrangement, issued by Delhi administration’s PWD,”in almost any unavoidable/exceptional conditions leaves could be given with the previous approval of the worried main engineer”.
“In light of the monsoon season, it’s been determined by the competent authority which no area staff of street maintenance apparatus and electric units keeping storm water pump homes under the management of Public Works Department is going to be permitted to take leaves throughout the monsoon period,” it stated.
This past calendar year, pictures of vehicles shouted in waterlogged Minto Bridge underpass, in which a delivery van driver burst, had contributed to a massive public outcry.
To maintain the town waterlogging entirely free, the governmental agencies are taking out desilting (elimination of silt and trash ) of drains at a major way.
The PWD as well as the 3 municipal companies of Delhi (MCDs) expected that desilting of drains could be finished prior to the start of monsoon from month-end.
Before, a senior PWD official stated that it had been”on course” and could be performed between June 20 and 25.
According to a rough estimate, there are approximately 2,000 drains, crossing around 1,054kilometers, that come under the PWD, ” the official stated.
The PWD keeps 1260-km streets in the federal capital.
