No differences over seats: BSP’s Chajjalwandi

AMRITSAR: The Punjab unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has claimed that there was no discontentment with its alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal (B) over seat sharing for the assembly elections in the state.
The party claimed that the constituencies given to the BSP were approved by the party supremo Mayawati herself.
BSP’s state general secretary Sawinder Singh Chajjalwandi said “The assembly seats in Punjab were decided by BSP chief Mayawati and we have no objection over contesting on these seats”.
He said those spreading canards about the disliking of the seats may have their own personal agenda.
“None of the party’s senior leaders has objected on the seats given to the BSP after the alliance with SAD (B),” said Chajjalwandi.
Senior party leader Engineer Gurbax Singh Shergill said that in the 2017 assembly elections, the BSP was in second or third place in eight out of 20 seats which they would be contesting in the 2022 assembly elections.
Similarly, he said that SAD (B) was also in second or third place on the eight seats which it left for BSP.
On June 12, the BSP entered into a political alliance with SAD(B) and as par the seat-sharing formula, it would be contesting on 20 assembly seats, including 7, 8, and 5 from Malwa, Doaba, and Majha regions respectively.
Party’s Amritsar district chief Tarsem Singh Bhola said that the party would be ready with its booth level structure by October 9.
