Agra: At least 50 residents in Mainpuri UP issued Covid Vaccination Certificate without being given a shot.
The certificate is allegedly distributed by the Ministry of Health workers who want to “meet their vaccination targets”.
A hard copy of the certificate was given to 50 people in LapGava Village in Blok Ghiror during the Government Vaccination camp on June 24.
But no one was vaccinated that day, residents had accused.
Dileep Kumar, Pradhan of LapgaVA – which has a population of 800 – said that at least 50 residents had attended a vaccination camp in the village after Asha workers had gathered people but no one was given a shot.
“I complained about this incident to the authorities several times and we even tweeted about it, but our complaints were not heard,” he said.
One of the residents who received a certificate, Sandeep (who only used his first name), told TI that people were told that they would be given a vaccine later.
“Health workers say there is a lack of vaccines and we will get a shot later.
But it’s more than a month and we still haven’t got our dose,” he said.
Other residents Madhuri Devi said every time people raised problems with Asha workers, they were convinced that they would soon get their vaccination.
“Workers have given us a certificate and said that they had to complete their target,” he said.
Authorities, however, rejected the accusation.
“More than 4 lakh people have been vaccinated in the district to date.
It is difficult to believe that the certificate is issued for some people without managing vaccines.
However, we will see this problem,” said Mainpuri District Judge Mahendra Bahadur Singh.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Prempal Singh added that he did not know this incident but would ask.
“Strict action will be taken against those who are found guilty,” he said.
In June, a man in Noida received a Covid vaccination certificate without taking a vaccine.
Uttar Pradesh has provided a total of more than 5.5 doses of crore from the Covid vaccine since the start of the inoculation campaign, according to the data available on the Cowin portal.
