Vadodara: The state government has allowed the Ganesh Festival in the middle of this year’s pandemic but the celebration is expected to be subdued.
The police department has banned large meetings and also places restrictions on the pandal in the city.
According to police notice, the pandal was allowed to install the Ganesh idol no bigger than four feet and those at home could be a maximum of two legs.
No more than 15 people can gather in the Ganesh procession on Friday and rules apply even on soaking days.
Pandal organizers have not been given permission to regulate religious or cultural events during the festival.
“Pandal organizers must ensure that visitors keep the right social distance and use facial masks.
Pandal organizers have been urged to make artificial ponds in their area to facilitate the soaking of Ganesh locally,” the police said.
The police have decided to spread drones in the old city area to monitor meetings and ensure that people do not damage social distance norms.
Some police teams will also patrol in the area where Popular Ganesh Pandal is to prevent a large crowd.
