Chennai: Six of the seven international passengers tested positive for Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu were infected with the Delta variant, not Omicron, the initial report was revealed.
The seventh patient was tested negatively in the confirmation test.
Scientists in the State Public Health Lab in Chennai did not see a classic decline in RPCR testing.
“It seems like most of them only have a Delta variant.
But we are still waiting for the results of the Lab Instem in Bengaluru,” said Minister of Health MA Subramanian told reporters on Monday after visiting a special ward at Multi Multi Nadu Hospital in Chennai.
The omicron variant case increased at least 38 countries.
“We don’t have a case here.
However, we make preparations,” said Minister.
Omandurar Hospital will have 35 beds with essential oxygen pipes and drugs besides the 35 bed ICU.
The state has also set aside a special ward in medical college hospitals in cities such as Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore.
Passengers from 11 high-risk countries are tested on arrival.
They suggested home quarantine and repeated tests on the eighth day if they tested negatively.
Positive testing received at a government hospital.
Their contacts – passengers sit in the front row and behind the patient’s seat and crew – will be tested.
