No OMR Evaluation as Newspapers already Place

AHMEDABAD: The state administration’s insistence on complete three-hour exams in the conventional way for Class XII students appears to be the consequence of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board’s (GSHEB) hesitation to prepare fresh collections of question papers and also for want of time to take on the whole exercise.

Although there’s a need to decrease the examination period from three hours in this Covid-19 outbreak by restricting the evaluation to multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with the optical mark reader (OMR) procedure, the state administration has adhered to the traditional evaluation format. This is due to the fact that the practice of preparation of question papers was completed and board and experts officials don’t wish to tackle the whole practice of establishing new query documents, moderating and printing them. This is quite time consuming, ” said a specialist.

Sources stated that during the interview where the authorities decided on routine three-hour evaluations for Class XII in July 1an alternative for a 90-minute evaluation with just MCQs utilizing OMR format has been also discussed as a way to decrease the Covid-19 threat for pupils. But it was believed that new preparations would require at least an additional month and it was consequently determined to keep with the older procedure.
