Pune: The civic body amnesty scheme for citizens to regulate invalid water connections seems to be trapped in the square.
A week after the scheme was announced, Pune Municipal Corporation has received zero application.
PMC deducted a proposal a month-and half ago.
The proposal was approved by the fixed committee in June, while the general body gave it ahead in July.
“We appeal to residents to use illegal water connections to advance and have them repeated.
One-time penalty must be paid for it,” said Aniruddha Pawaskar, Head of the PMC Water Department.
PMC data shows that there are 4.5 lakh water connections in the city, and the same number of illegal lines.
Pawarri said the scheme was not intended to provide amnesty blankets for each illegal connection.
Only connections that are the opposite can be approved but are currently illegal because non-completion of formality will be allowed to be regulated, he said.
Each property with six flats allowed a half-inch diameter pipe.
If a building as 12 flats, 3/4 of the inch pipe is permitted.
One-inch pipe is permitted for any property with more than 24 flats.
Under the amnesty scheme, commercial illegal water connection and housing with pipes with diameter up to one inch will be updated.
