No RWA elections for a year, Lagoon flat owners write to PM

Gurgaon: A group of residents in Ambience Lagoon has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking his intervention in a dispute regarding the RWA elections in the condominium.
The residents said they had been requesting the district registrar and the state officials for a year to hold the elections to the governing body of the RWA, which has been pending since June 2020, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
The residents alleged that the district registrar’s office has been using the pandemic as an excuse to delay the polls.
In June 2020, the district registrar had appointed an ad-hoc committee without consulting RWA members, they alleged.
Since then, the panel has been derailing the process and functions arbitrarily, refusing to implead in the court case in the Supreme Court against the builder, the residents claimed.
“Several election officers have been appointed by the district registrar, but they refuse to show up and conduct the elections.
When their term expires, the term is either extended or a new officer appointed,” said Sanjay Lal, former vice-president of the association.
When contacted, a member of the ad-hoc committee refused to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, Ratan Deep, the appointed returning officer, said, “I was appointed by the district registrar in April.
During the lockdown, it was not conducive to conduct the election process.
Even the society was under LOR (large outbreak areas) till a few weeks ago.
The election will be held under the supervision of the committee constituted by the district registrar…”
