Nagpur: In the development that can be considered an indicator that pandemics are currently under control in many countries, government hospitals and medical colleges in Maharashtra have refused to collect stock of antibody cocktail drugs that are in high request 90 days ago.
The Government of Medical College (GMC) was asked to lift the stock of antibody cocktail drugs from the Time Store of the State Health Department.
Officials in Nagpur and Akola GMCH and sources at Aurangabad GMCH confirmed that the authorities had refused to take stock because they did not need this drug again.
Next, the expiration date of this medicine is near, so GMC does not want to store drugs without reason.
An official from the Administration Department GMCH Nagpur said, “In June, Nagpur GMCH received a letter from the State Health Department who asked to collect 750 bottle of antibody cocktails, which was originally agreed to because of the situation at that time.
But since then the condition of Covid-19 has increased Significantly.
So we have told the department that we will not collect drugs now.
“The official, who did not want to be named, said that the drug expiration date was also approaching.
Furthermore, frozen vehicles needed for transportation are also not available easily, he added.
A similar letter was received by Akola and Aurangabad Gmch and the source confirmed that they also refused to collect drugs.
The doctor who cared for Covid patients in Vidarbha said the antibody cocktail was more beneficial for those in a high-risk category, especially senior citizens, whose immune levels declined.
Until now, zero death rates have been reported among people who are given drug cocktails.
At present, Vidarbha Hospital has low reception and very few of them are moderate or very critical.
More than 95% of oxygen beds are not inhabited.
