Noida: Delayed for more than four years, authority will eventually begin the installation of smart water meters in Noida in the coming weeks.
On Monday, the authority completed a private agent who would install meters and operate the infrastructure.
5,000 meters are scheduled to be installed in the first phase, under the pilot project aimed at ending water waste and bring more transparency in the bill.
Deputy General Manager of the Department of Water Work and Sewerage Authority, RP Singh said that BCITS Bengaluru company was resolved to carry out the pilot project.
“Detailed plans are also being completed and will soon be shared with agencies.
Agency will carry out the project and submit it to authority after 10 years.” In addition to providing devices, the agency will also regulate sophisticated measurement infrastructure.
“All procedures and billing processes will be driven by technology.
The measurement infrastructure will gather information about regular use and change it according to the billing unit,” said an officer from the Department of Water.
“The budget of almost Rs 9.50 Crore has been set aside for this project.” Users of all categories will be discussed under projects, including housing blocks, community housing groups and industrial, commercial and institutional companies.
The location and sector where the pilot project will be implemented will be completed in a few days.
After the results come out after a period of six months or more, the authority will receive a call to extend the project further.
“We will find out how effective the smart measurement system will be at that time.
We will be able to monitor losses during bidding and income collected through consumption,” the officer added.
Meanwhile, a team has been formed by the authority to study the water billing system in several cities in this country.
The team will check the tariff ordered for per kiloliter water supply by domestic, commercial and industrial users in Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, among others.
Water costs in Noida will be repaired after training.
All of this while the authority takes a fixed monthly fee of the Allasses according to their plot size.
However, with a new system, Allastee must pay fees according to the actual use.
