Noida: Department of Income Tax (I-T) has restored jewelry worth Rs 2.8 Crore, stored in several personal lockers, on the fifth day of their search on the former IPS officer in the Sector 50, the source said.
The I-T team, who started the survey at the House of RN Singh, an IPS officer from Batch 1983, on January 29, so far has recovered Rs 8.5 Crore, where RS 5.77 Crore is said to be not counted.
According to senior I-T official, Singh runs a private company – Manasam Noida Vault – from the basement of his house in the Sector 50 block.
The company opened in 2017, in the same year as Singh.
The company has 700 personal lockers, which are mostly found empty.
Cash and some documents found stored in 18-20 lockers.
The wife of the IPS officer has a company ownership while his son is a locker guard.
On Wednesday, the source told Ti that the team restored four kg of gold and diamond jewelry, approximately worth around Rs 2.8 Crore.
“Lockers where the jewelry has been restored belonging to a businessman connected with liquor companies.
We have confiscated jewelry,” said an I-T department officer.
Most of the cash recovered during the search for the builder of Ghaziabad, a rental accountant based in Delhi and a tobacco industry, the officer said.
“Their names cannot be disclosed at this time as a detailed investigation into progress.
We also find out whether this cash is from some of the property of Benami.
We also investigate if the owner of this locker has a relationship with politicians or if it’s money made available for assembly selection,” said The officer.
The search concluded on Wednesday, the official said.
Speaking to people’s media, former IPS officer previously said, “After my retirement, I lived in my village.
There are personal locker facilities that we provide.
Two lockers are in my name.
There is no illegal found in it except family jewelry.
The IT team is looking for another locker.
