Noida pays 50k Rs as a penalty to cut additional trees

Noida: Noida authority has paid Rs 50,000 as compensation for the Ministry of Forestry to connect additional trees for the construction of the flyover in Parthala Chowk.
Authority has permission to cut 217 trees and other 1,816 transplants, but two more without permission, said PK Srivastava, division forest officers.
“A case was submitted after we received complaints from environmental activists.
Authority has responded to it and also paid compensation,” he said.
He added that forest officials visited the place after complaints and found some additional Neem trees had been cut down.
Neem is a protected species above and cutting down trees is prohibited.
Therefore, punishment to cut two extra trees is higher.
Transplanting small trees is underway and officials say inspections will be done so work ends.
“In transplants, it is important to ensure that plants are well placed so that the survival rate rises,” said the book of Singh, Range Officer for the area.
Smaller trees are transferred to green belts in neighboring sector 121, 122 and 123.
Environmental activists claim that the work is not done correctly.
“Authority uses a heavy construction machine to overthrow unusual plants and trees, damaging the roots in the process.
In this way, plants will not survive at all.
We have raised this problem for months, but no one checks the transplant process,” Vikrant Tongad said, environmental activists and complainants in this case.
The legitan proposed at the Parthala Chowk will be around 800 meters long and run parallel to the Metro line that will come from Noida to the extension of Noida or from sector 121 to sector 123.
With six lanes, 26 meters wide.
With the Metro and the flyover that appears, it means that most trees along the stretch must be moved or cut into the next few months.
According to the Noida Authority survey, around 1.25 lakh vehicles use the intersection of Parthala Chowk every day.
During rush hour, I.e., starting at 10 am to 11 in the morning, an average of 18,000 vehicles crossed every hour.
The busy intersection connects Ghaziabad in the north, Greater Noida West sector in the east, downtown Noida, intersection of sector 71 and further towards Delhi in the West and the 7x sector is crowded in the south.
