Noida / Ghaziabad: Gautam Budh Nagar has recorded the first case of Omicron with a 35-year-old man who tested positively for the new Covid variant recently.
On Tuesday, this district also registered 140 new infections, while Ghaziabad’s neighbor added 182 cases.
According to Health Officer GB Nagar, a patient, a resident of sector 137, has developed a fever after he attended a program organized by his office, a private company in Gurgaon, on December 16.

The officer added that the patient has now fully recovered and his wife, which is the main contact, has also been tested negatively for infection.
“The patient’s house in a high-rise apartment is intended as a micro detention zone as soon as he has been tested positively.
Health officials have also tracked and tested the contacts according to the protocol,” Sharma told Toi.
Officials said patients did not have a history of travel and fully vaccinated.
On December 17, Ghaziabad had reported its first Omicron cases when the elderly pair – a 69-year-old man and his 66-year-old wife, resident of Nehru Nagar, found infected with a very contagious variant.
At least 26 Omicron cases have reportedly crossed the country so far.
Meanwhile, with 140 cases of fresh Covid GB Nagar January violated 400-marks to stand in 406, which was the highest since July last year when a total of 156 cases were recorded.
Ghaziabad has also reported 405 cases in January so far, the highest since June (324 cases) last year.
At present, there are 597 active cases in GB Nagar and 560 in Ghaziabad.
