Ghaziabad: In joint operation by the Noida Special Task Force (STF) and Noida Police, a group of smugglers was broken down on Saturday in Surajpur with the arrest of six members.
According to the police, the arrest was made in connection with the alleged smuggling of Kanabis 251kg with a value of around Rs 50 Lakh.
According to the STF, the defendant was identified as Firoz Khan (35), from Ghaziabad, Amit Sahni (30), Sachin Kumar (28), and Sonu (25), from Sonīpat in Haryana; And Jitendra Kumar (30), and Mahesh Yadav (32), from Banda above.
“Khan is a vegetable seller in Ghaziabad.
The suspects used to bring narcotics products from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and sell them in NCR,” said a police officer.
Raj Kumar Mishra, DSP, Noida STF, told ToI that they received information from reliable sources that the defendant would smuggle marijuana in large amounts of Lucknow to Surajpur on Friday.
“The defendant had come in Mahindra pick-up and Maruti Swift Dzire’s car in Surajpur.
They transferred the marijuana package from Van Pick-Up to the car when the police raided them.
Our team restored 250kg Mariyuana from their ownership,” DSP said.
He added that during the investigation, the police learned that Khan and his cousin Sadique alias Guddu – was arrested by police Chhattisgarh a few months ago – involved in smuggling.
“They have visited Visakhapatnam at Andhra Pradesh five years ago and bought marijuana from there.
They sell drugs to the local community in NCR for money easily.
Khan then involves several other people and began to smuggle Cannabis from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh,” Mishra said.
Cases have been listed below in section 18 and 20 drugs narcotics and psychotropic law, 1985.
The suspects were produced in court on Saturday that sent them to trial detention.
