New Delhi: Ahead of the assembly selection of 2022 Uttar Pradesh, the Interim president of the Sonia Gandhi Congress on Wednesday gave his approval for the establishment of the Party of Party Election Committee.
The statement from the All India Congress Committee said, “The President of the Congress has agreed to the Constitutional Proposal for the Pradesh Committee of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC).” The formation of a crucial panel came only a few months before the assembly election.
The electoral committee up consists of 38 members.
Important among them is the President of UPCC Ajay Kumar Lallu, CLP Leader Aradhana Mona Misra, former President of UPCC Mohsina Kidwai, Salman Khurshid, Nirmal Khatri; Former Leader of CLP Pramod Tiwari and Pradeep Mathur; and members of the Work Congress (CWC) members of Rajiv Shukla, PL Punia, RPN Singh and Vivek Bansal.
The election committee also includes former Member of Parliament Rajesh Mishra, Rajaram Pal, Rajesh Sachan, Begum Noor Bano, Zafar Ali Naqvi, Harendra Malik, Rashid Alvi and Mohd Muqeem.
AICC Secretary whose name found mention in the committee was Imran Masood, Ajay Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Brijlal Khabri, Sudhanshu Tripathi, BP Singh and Jitendra Baghel.
Imran Masood, a former contestant of Lok Sabha, was arrested ahead of the 2014 General Election to threaten the prime ministerial candidate in Prime Narendra Modi.
The election committee includes MLAS Masood Akhtar, Naresh Saini and Sohail Ansari; and MLC Deepak Singh.
The committee also has some surprise negligence like the former President of the State of the Babbar Party.
In addition, it does not include family members of Nehru-Gandhi.
Sonia Gandhi is Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli temporarily Rahul Gandhi is a former parliamentary member of Amethi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is the Secretary General of AICC who is responsible for the country.
