T’puram: Save Education Campaign Committee has submitted a petition to the Minist of Higher Education R Bindu to alleged efforts to appoint backdoor at the University of Kannur.
The committee said Dr.
Priya Varghese, wife of CM Secretary CM KK Ragesh, elected ‘illegally’ for an interview with the position of a professor associate at Kannur University.
The minimum feasibility for the post from Professor Associate is a PhD with an eight-year experience at the professor’s assistant level.
Varghese joined the Assistant Professor in Sri Kerala Varma College in 2012.
When working, he took advantage of three years away under the FDP program to complete the pH.

Citing the 2018 UGC Regulation, Klausul 3.9, the Committee said the period taken by candidates to obtain MPHIL and / or PhD degrees could not be considered as a teaching / research experience for posting posting.
Furthermore, the active service period spent on pursuing research degrees along with the assignment of teaching without taking all types of leave must be counted as a teaching experience for direct recruitment / promotional purposes.

“He also served as Director, Student Service for two years at the University of Kannur from 2019, which also cannot be considered a teaching / research experience.
He cannot claim more than 4 years of teaching or research experience and thus he openly is not qualified to submit a post, “Committee said.
