North Karnataka staff asks women to find Jab after menstruation

BELOGIVAVI: Staff in several vaccination centers in North Karnataka are reported to ask for women’s menstruation to find Jab five days after their cycle.
Activists say beneficiaries who meet the requirements are asked to return later in Raichur, Beleagavi and Bidar.
In Raichur, several health workers, without data on post-vaccinated complications, told women that the Jab might cause severe bleeding and fatigue and they had to wait for the period ended, according to activist Vidhya Patil.
“They specifically ask women not to take vaccines during the menstrual cycle,” Vidhya said, who worked for the welfare of rural communities.
But Raichur District Health Officer Ramakrishna said that there were no such incidents reported in the district.
“There is no such direction from the government, and the woman is being given a vaccine,” said Deputy Commissioner Raichur R Venkatesh Kumar.
In the urban health center at Mandoli Road, Batawayavi, some women were asked to return after menstruation.
“I was asked to find Jab after five to six days.
I wondered why they advised me to postpone shots when there was no such direction from the health and family welfare department.
Health workers said they only exercise carefully,” said a woman , Bellagavi District Immunization Officer Ip Gadad said he had instructed the vaccination center to stab all women, regardless of whether they were menstruating.
“It doesn’t need to be afraid.
Vaccines, if administered during cycles, don’t cause side effects,” he stressed.
Vinay Malge, an activist in Bidar, said that the problem was resolved in this district.
