NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted bail to student activists Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal and Asif Iqbal Tanha, Reserved under the Strict Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) Legislation, in Relation to the northeast Delhi riots.
A seat of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anup Jairam Bhambhani put aside the trial court’s orders denying bond to the three accused and enabled their appeals by acknowledging them to routine bond.
The high court led Pinjra Tod activists Narwal, Kalita and Tanha to surrender their passports and to not provide some inducement to prosecution witnesses or witnesses with the evidence in the situation.
Both accused were detained in May a year ago in relation to the riots in northeast Delhi.
Communal clashes had broken in northeast Delhi on February 24 final year following violence involving citizenship legislation fans and protesters spiralled out of control leaving 53 people dead and about 200 injured.
