Chennai: Southwest Monsun is abundant and the northeastern season may not disappoint, say the weather.
While the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) said it would arrive on time, private fortune tellers said most TN would receive pre-monsoon spells every day before.
Long-term forecasts IMD said “Northeast Monsun 2021 in India South Peninsular India including Tamil Nadu is likely to be normal.” The spatial distribution of rainfall for October-December shows that it will be above normal above the many parts of Tamil Nadu and below the average for Chennai and the surrounding districts.
However, maybe above normal above many parts of TN include Chennai in October.
N Puvarasan, director of the cyclone commemoration center of the IMD area in Chennai, said that there are indications of southwest monsuns can be fully attractive around October 15 and the Northeast Monsun can arrive around October 20, the onset date is normal with a six-day deviation.
“We can expect normal monsoons.

During the northeastern season, TN received 447.4mm 48% of the annual quota and Chennai received 867.4mm 63% of his annual quota.
IMD said the phenomenon was like La Nina, cooling sea level temperatures on the Pacific, can reappear and the negative (iod) sea dipole can change neutral.
Both can affect monsoon.
La Nina is usually considered unfavorable for the northeastern monsoon.
“The model shows the monsoon will be normal,” said Mahesh Palawat, Head of Meteorology, Skymet.
