JAMMU: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said though his party was not against the delimitation process in J&K, “the method adopted for the same was not in consonance with the procedure”.
“We will uphold the interests of the people at all costs in every forum,” he said, adding that political issues in J&K post-August 5, 2019 — when the special status of the erstwhile state was scrapped — have been challenged by the party in the apex court.
Abdullah said this while presiding over a virtual meeting of NC’s provincial committee members in Jammu.
Abdullah exhorted his party cadre to further strengthen its rank and file to meet the challenges faced in J&K unitedly by upholding the cherished philosophy of communal and regional amity.
The NC president also took up various issues flagged by party functionaries in detail and shared concerns over road connectivity.
Addressing the day-long meet, NC vice-president Omar Abdullah asked party functionaries to review the party’s membership distribution process in Jammu province.
Expressing concern over the “uncertainty” in J&K, he urged the cadre to remain steadfast in their resolve to fight for the right cause.
