‘Not consumer friendly’: some takers for discount AC replacement schemes

Written by news2in

Gurgaon: Distom Dakthin Power Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) on Wednesday told the launch of the AC replacement scheme for domestic consumers to promote energy savings.
However, the scheme has received a lukewarm response from the population of the city who claim it is more than “good feelings” and less than consumer-friendly initiatives.
The population also shows that the scheme provides limited choices in terms of their preference brand only because only three brands – Daikin, Voltage and Blue Star – have been returned by a discode.
In addition, they say that subsidies offered to replacement of old AC are not attractive and the entire process is complicated.
Chaitali Mandhotra, a resident of Ardee City, said, “While the purpose of the initiative is good, it is not a consumer friendly.
They provide limited choices to consumers with the brands they like and have improved the price of each brand with a fixed rate of RS 69,000, which is a little on The higher side.
Also subsidies in new offers and exchanges are very minimal and at the end of the day, it will not be beneficial for consumers.
“The others have highlighted discounted price gaps between rural and urban areas.
“Today, people are aware of using energy-efficient household appliances.
The subsidies they provide in the classification of urban and rural areas are not justified and the scheme must be taken into account that most consumers are in urban areas.
In addition, the process is far more complicated to utilize Scheme, “said Dhruv Bansal, a resident of DLF-1.
When contacted, KC Agrawal, the Chief Engineer DHBVN, said, “This scheme aims to promote energy conservation and very consumer friendly.
The government has made a decision after considering everything and giving a discount from 46% to 59% in the MRP with old ACS rewards .
However, feedback is always accepted.
