After it began its inoculation programme in January, India additionally provided vaccine to other nations.
In reaction to your question in Lok Sabha on March 23, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said India has provided 600 million doses into 76 nations below the’Vaccine-Maitri’ initiative.
Of those 600 million doses, approximately 341 million doses had been provided on industrial basis, while roughly 177 doses had been provided to GAVI’s COVAX.
The rest 81 million have been provided as award.
But it came to a stop after the lethal second wave of this coronavirus struck the nation, killing tens of thousands.
The authorities also obtained flak for exporting jabs.
On the other hand, the vaccine export ban from India has resulted in deficit in different nations.
The government was in discussions with the US on the lack of vaccines from the nation.
“We’re also engaged with the US Administration to make sure that essential elements and raw materials including vaccine manufacturing in India are easily offered.
This issue has been taken up during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s trip to the USA.
