ThiruvananThapuram: Governor Kerala Arif Mohammed Khan, who was in the state government of alleged political interference in the functioning of the university, on Thursday said he was even ready to transfer the power of Chancellor to the Ministers of Higher Education, who was also a Pro Chancellor of the University.
“I am not interested in becoming a symbolic head of the university,” he said.
Khan said it was impossible for him to work as a chancellor.
“I will not be a party to reduce university standards.
I will not be a party for an irregular appointment,” the Governor said, adding that he was ready to legally move all his strength to Chancellor Pro.
“Let them decide on the cabinet …
I am ready to transfer all the power to Pro Chancellor,” he said.
The governor said he signed the letters who re-raised the Chancellor of the University of Kannur “to avoid conflict” with the government.
“I took responsibility …
I made a mistake …
it certainly had to avoid conflict.
But then I realized that even under pressure I shouldn’t do that,” Khan said about the recent re-designation from Prof Ravindran as a VC of Kannur University for four years.
