Gurgaon: The entire Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), directly from Faridabad Road to the NH-48, will be changed in the coming months, GMDA officials who attended the meeting with Minister of Manohar Lal Khattar said on Friday.
Previously, there was a plan to increase the only stretch of Golf Road (extension).
At the GMDA meeting, officials submitted a proposal to increase the stretch between Faridabad Road and Vatika Chowk with the construction of firover at five critical intersections at the cost of Rs 540 Crore.
Previously, officials were exploring the choice of kites and underpasses at the intersection.
They settled firover because the underpass would lead to waterlogging during the rainy season and made it difficult for heavy vehicles to navigate stretches.
“We propose an increase in stretch through the construction of flyovers at five intersections because this technical feasibility is found more.
Even though the Chairperson of the GMDA (Chairman of the Minister of Khattar) approved the proposal, he told us that the project scope must be expanded to include the entire SP, which means all stretches Between Jalan Faridabad and NH-48.
Now, we will revise the proposal and estimate and present it before the chairman again, “said a senior GMDA official.
The proposal to get 100 minibuses for Gurugaman services was also approved at the meeting.
Chief Executive Officer Sudhir Rajpal said 32 routes might have been identified in the city.
He told Khattar that the income generated from bus services has increased substantially from Rs 11-12 per kilometer to Rs 41 per kilometer.
The cost of running the current service is Rs 70 per kilometer.
Among other issues discussed at the meeting were plans to provide 24×7 water supply throughout the city and a sports stadium proposed at 12 hectares in Farrukhnagar, approved.
Metro connectivity also among the problems discussed.
In addition, a project to make new sports facilities at Devi Lal Tau Stadium, such as shooting ranges, badminton fields, and swimming pools, as well as increasing existing cricket stadiums, also approved.
At the meeting, officials said the proposal for the Metro network for 28 km was prepared and sent to the center.
The trade union government, the official said, has given the principle approval to the project.
Officials also revealed during the meeting that the proposal for building Metro Spur from Rezang La Chowk to Dwarka has also been sent to the government to be approved.
Khattar said he and Union Minister Rao Inderdit Singh would work to make proposals come true.
A project to build a road between Nelson Mandela Marg in Delhi and MG Road, which has attracted objections from the population and environmental lovers as part of it will pass through the Bigsitas Aravali park, also discussed.
“The Chairperson has directed NHAI to explore the feasibility of building a portion of the road that passes through the park as a flyover.
This will prevent damage to the flora and fauna there,” said an official.
