Not opposing direct relationships, said Allahabad HC, asked the police to protect same-sex partners

Prayagraj: Providing protection to same-sex pairs, which are in direct relations, the High Court of Allahabad has observed that “we do not oppose live-in relationships”.
While some allowed the writing petition submitted by one Anju Singh and another from the Hapur district, the division bench consisting of Justice Kaushal Jayendra and justice Ajigi Tyagi directed the police concerned to verify all documents.
Applicant, Anju Singh and his live-in partner, who submitted a request together, was submitted before the court that they were great girls and fellow partners who want a living relationship.
They accused that they would be harassed and would not be allowed to live peacefully by their family members if protection was not given to them.
They also submitted that their parents threatened to kill them if they did not end their relationship and also threatened faltly involving them in a criminal case.
Against this background, the court, while emphasizing that it is not against direct relations, directing the police from the district concerned to give them protection after verifying all documents.
While passing this direction in his decision on November 2, the court also referred to and relied on the Supreme Court’s decision in the cases of Gian Devi vs.
Supervisor, Nari Niketan, Delhi, and others, Lata Singh vs.
Bhagwan Das V State (NCT of Delhi).
The court also refers to and rely on government orders (go) on August 31, 2019.
According to Go Go, the police protection will be given to them, who entered the marriage between caste or inter-faith.
Furthermore, district judges or police supervisors concerned will demand people who try to create fear in such a partner’s mind, the court added.
