Not Rath Yatra in Simdega for the second year in a row

Gumla: Simdega District, which borders Odisha and has the oldest history of Rath Yatra in Jharkhand from the 14th century, not celebrating the festival for the second consecutive year on Monday due to restrictions made to control Covid-19.
In the century -14, the descendants of King Puri shifted to Bolwa and then their sons settled in Udte Keshaldur and finally in Birugarh in Simdega who shared the limit with Odisha.
“This is the second year in a row when Rath Yatra cannot be held at Simdega.
Only the prayer offered by Pastor Temple,” said one member of the Prince Birugar family.
He said Hathhan Dev, descendants of Puri King Kapilendra Dev Maharaj, have settled in Bhambhalpur and his son Kalbhanjan Dev down to this area and made his first seat in Bolwa in Simdega, where the first of Rath Yatras took place in the state.
Durbavijay Singh Dev, a Kingdom Family Prince of Birugar, said, “Kalbhanjan Dev, son of Hathanbar Singh Dev, went to Bolwa.
He was given a territory in the Simdega area by Ratu Maharaj, who was the ruler of the Chhotanagpur area, for large diamonds.
That was the first Hathabar Got Rath Yatra from Lord Jagannated in Bolwa in 1326.
“Since then, all of his descendants follow this tradition, he said, adding that the tradition of implementing Yatra spread to other places Simdega afterwards.
Durgavijay also said the royal family of Gajpati had several princes who went to different places to find their kingdom in various parts of the country.
“Wherwry they left, they brought with their Idols Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabadhra and carried out Rath Yatras and built a temple for Lord Jagannath,” he said.
Other members of the royal family, Kaushal Singh, said, “On Monday, the priests carried out the ritual who observed the social distance and the gods of the gods were brought to Mausitch by hand.” In Gumla, a side by side, Rath Yatra is also an old tradition.
In 1761 a Jagannath Lord Temple was built in Nagfeni on the banks of the South Koel River in Gumla.
This year, the temple looks quiet because of the covid sidewalk.
