Nagpur: Only hours after resigning from Shiv Sena, former Deputy Mayor and President of the former Sawarbandhe district on Sunday formally entered the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in front of the Senior Patel leader.
Feeling absent in the party because of ‘newcomers’, Sawarbandhe decided to make a goodbye bid at the party he had followed in 2002.
Speaking to Toi, Sawarbandhe said, “It is always a difficult decision but I am sure that newcomers or those who are Having zero election experience, now calling a shot.
It makes old guards and land level cadres wondering how their contribution is valued.
“The last 18 months have seen a big change in the Nagpur Shiv Sena unit, with many new promises for important posts that naturally cause dissatisfaction between those who are ‘lose’.
The decline in the influence of the Sawarbandhe in the party, caused speculation among the politics of him to rebel.
In June, Sawarbandhe made a last attempt by reaching out art leaders in Mumbai and told them about the situation.
Sawarbandhe said, “I met the cabinet minister from our party along with those who were in a think-tank party.
But from their body language, I could understand their helplessness and inability to improve the situation.
So rather than making a big scene, I made a decision to stop And join the NCP.
“Even though Sawarbandhe opposed the ‘newcomer’ in Sena, he would also be a beginner at NCP and the possibility of dealing with old anger.
Sawarbandhe said, “It was very unlikely because I had worked with many NCP leaders in the past, so they were my friends.” So, has the NCP promising to the Prem party post? “I will only play a role in compiling a strategy for local agency polls, but I will not fight for themselves,” he said.
Starting his political career with Congress in 1992, Sawarbandhe had entered Shiv Sena exactly 10 years later.
In 2014 he rebelled after rejected the poll ticket but returned to the folding party immediately.
But this time, his separation is final, Sawarbandhe feels.
“It reaches the point of intimacy, but I don’t have the will with anyone,” said Sawarbandhe.
