PANAJI: Goa Human Rights Commission on Thursday issued a notification to the administrative director of Goa Medical College and account director of non-payment payments to Covid workers at GMC for the past five months.
The commission brought Suo Motu to realize the Toi report, “hired during the peak of the second wave, Covid workers have not been paid”.
“We have the view that the Prima Facie has violations of human rights and therefore, we take Suo Motu’s awareness of news items,” The Commission stated in the notification issued on Thursday.
The Commission has asked the administrative director and account director to ask this problem and submit a report on October 18 and present before the trial.
Toi has reported that the majority of 430 multi-tasking staff (MTs) are employed at the height of the second wave of pandemic and considering the difficult task of serving in the Covid-19 ward has not received their first salary of five months.
After the Toi report, Director of the Dilip Humraskar account tried to pass money and said that they had questions about certain bills and had increased the same thing with GMC.
“As soon as the GMC response to our question is accepted, we will delete the bill,” Humraskar told toi on September 23.
“When a hundred or more salary bills staff are handed over together, and there are even three to four bill questions, they cannot be separated,” he said.
The multi-tasking staff hopes to be paid at least before Ganesh Chaturthi, but except the remaining 40 has not received their salary.
They are in a special GMC block where Covid-19 patients are treated.
They are employed for a monthly salary of Rs 17,000.
One of them had completed the electronic course in iti told Toi that he decided to take a job and work in Covid Wards after he failed to find a job and in the hope of getting a steady job.
