New Delhi: A total of 10 foreign donors working in the fields such as climate change and anti-slavery advocacy have been added to a list of foreign organizations that require previous permission from the Ministry of Home to contribute to Indian NGOs.
The agent is the European Climate Foundation, Freedom Fund, Minderoo, Humanity United, Stardust, Walk Free Foundation, Omidyar Network India, Laudes Foundation, Foundation of Child Investment Funds and Legatum Funds.
RBI communication to the bank dated July 1 has instructed that funds from this donor for the FCRA registered association in India must first be to MHA.
While the reason for placing 10 donors on the ‘Clearance’ ‘list was previously unclear, some NGOs such as the foundation of free walking in the past issued a report of slavery that showed India in poor light.
