Guwahati: Administration of Sonitpur Regency on Wednesday serves notification of eviction on 550 families and gives them 30 days to empty the land occupied illegally in Dhekiajuli.
Notifications have been served on the occupants of two villages – Nisolamari and Bosasimolu – in Dhekiajuli.
An official from the Dhekiajuli Circle Office said, “30 days of time has been given to deprivation.
According to our information, some families have decided to leave their land.
They will be advised and we hope they leave the land that is illegally occupied.” Meanwhile, regional occupants have demanded rehabilitation before the eviction was carried out.
They urged the government to delay expulsion for several months because this is the time to reap the harvest.
Muktar Hussain, a resident of Nisolamari, said, “The people who live here have used all government facilities.
The government has issued a ration card to families here.
Women have utilized financial assistance under Orunodoi and Primary schemes.
