Mumbai: The economic wing of the City of Wing City (EOW) has asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate and take the necessary actions into complaints of deviations in byculla animal enclosure projects, which have seen an increase in the cost of RS106 Crore.
Following complaints to EOW by BJP Corporator Vinod Mishra, accused the cartelization and irregularities in the BMC tender to build a new animal enclosure at the zoo, The Eop wrote ACB who asked them to conduct investigations.
“In the supervision of complaints, it is noted that this problem is related to your office / department’s jurisdiction, and according to the instructions of the commissioner of JCoint Police, EOW, Mumbai, which is equally forwarded for the actions needed at our end and directly disposal under the intimacy to the applicant,” Writing Senior Inspector Shrinivas Panhale from EOW in his letter to ACB.
Coral Mishra has filed a complaint with EOW through his lawyer, Kandharkar comal.
Last month, BMC had been looking for an explanation from the Byculla Zoo Officials and the building’s maintenance department (BM) after the offer for the closing of the new animal fired by a large RS106 crore above the Civic’s body estimate, and only two companies, MS Highway construction, and MS Skyway Infra Submit an offer.
The corporation recently floated two tenders; One for construction of new animal cages for Black Jaguar, Cheetah, White Lion, Walaby, Chimpanzee, Lemur Tail, Mandrill Monkey and Flamingo are lower.
The second tender is to build an exhibition for Hippo, EMU and A Bird Aviary, as well as the Hibana African themed exhibition.
This project must be built on land received from Poddar and Mafatlal Mills adjacent to the zoo.
While the tender is estimated to cost RS91 Crore and RS94 Crore, both companies bid RS146 Crore and RS145 Crore.
This means escalation around RS106 Crore.
“This clearly shows that BMC is part of the Nexus with the two companies.
We have notified the Civic’s body about this fraud before the offer opened.
It’s been two months since the price bid opened.
If there is no order, then BMC must continue with a tender.
But if They are not a scrap of tenders, we will go to HC.
BMC has become a corruption highway, “said BJP Mla Mihir Kotecha on Thursday.
