Now, communists turn to RAM to calculate Parivar

Kozhikode: The CPI has become the latest clothing to warm to Ramayana, with the Malappuram district committee held a series of discourse online on the epic to fight what he saw as an ancient text apropriation by the Sangh Parivar and right wing.
Seven Days Online talks about Ramayana are being carried out on the Facebook District Committee’s Facebook page and have state-level CPI leaders as speakers.
This series, titled “Ramayana and Heritage India”, which began on July 25, will conclude on Saturday.
“At present, communal and fascist forces claim exclusive rights of everything related to Hinduism, especially with the community in big political parties and away.
Epics like Ramayana are part of the tradition of shared and country culture,” said Secretary of the Regency CPI Malappuram PK Krishnadas.
He added that holding a series of talks about Ramayana was an effort by the party to see how epic had to be read and understood in progressive time.
This topic deals with diverse, such as “people during the Ramayana era and political relations with other countries”, by the leader of Ratnakan Mulakkara CPI; “Contemporary politics in Ramayana”, by the CPI of fellow traveler M Keshavan Nair; “Lots of Ramayanas”, by Leelakrishnan Alankode poets etc.
In his conversation about “contemporary politics in Ramayana”, Nair said that the politics were rooted in Ramayana very different from those practiced by Sangh Parivar.
“Dewa Ram is shown as a meeting of conflicting troops, and for the Communist the first thing that comes to mind when looking closely at the epic is the principle of dialectical materialism adopted by Karl Marx,” he said.
Leelakrishnan’s poet said the communist had the responsibility to ensure that Ramayana did not become a tool in the hands of communal forces.
“We can resist the interpretation of the Ramayana fascist by highlighting a variety of epic versions,” he said.
